Discipleship at Anchorage Moravian Church

IF YOU NOTICE IN OUR CHURCH BULLETIN FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, AT THE ANCHORAGE MORAVIAN CHURCH, WE CHANGED THE NAME OF OUR SUNDAY NIGHT WORSHIP TO DISCIPLESHIP EVENING. Certainly singing and sharing of testimonies is still there, but more emphasis through preaching and teaching is being done to establish for our Church membership a firmer and stronger foundation on God’s Word the Bible.

WHAT IS A DISCIPLE? A disciple is a follower of particular word or doctrine. To be a disciple of Christ, then, is to be one who follows Jesus and lives in obedience to his commands. The purpose of discipleship is to shape believers into committed followers of Christ who live out the kind of devotion that Jesus described through his teachings.

Matthew 16:24 says, Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”

I like this charge I read recently: “Jesus ultimately charged his disciples to go and make more disciples, and the Bible is clear that we, too, are meant to be disciple-makers. We are called to discipleship: the process of multiplication through relationship. When we participate in the work of discipleship, we’re doing precisely what Jesus told his disciples to do in the Great Commission. The Great Commission is found in Matthew 28:18-20.

Note:  As President of UAMM and bishop, I encourage all UAMM members of the five-fold ministry to emphasize more preaching and teaching of the Word of God. This will help our people to discern proper biblical truth as the world like never before is experiencing deception from the Evil One.  Also 10% tithing is being emphasized more so we can move forward to advance and expand God’s Kingdom.
