All for the glory of Christ, the newborn King!
The Anchorage Moravian Church held a special rewarding service. This was during the 2021 Christmas Eve Candlelight Service held on December 24, 2021, 6 pm, at 3512 Robin Street, Anchorage, Alaska.
Sergeant Major of the US Marine Corps (retired), Church Trustee, Joel Bowles, opened the service by reading brief liturgy and lighting the big white Christ candle. After which, he said like a true warrior of Christ’s army, “Now is the time to Celebrate Christ coming as a child to save us!” This set the atmosphere as indeed a special night of being silent before God, singing at the top of their voices, praying and worshipping and rejoicing in the hope and purpose Christ Jesus gave all of us.
We thank Colonel Milton Cross of the US Army (retired), Church Trustee , Administrative Assistant and pastor, who gave a statement on giving offerings. It is our prayer for those of you who gave that indeed God will bless you richly for helping to build the Kingdom of God.
Young people handed out the candles, which was moving. As the entire congregation raised the lighted candles the glory of God came upon the place! This was shown in the sense of awe and wonder, faith, and smiles on everyone’s faces.
At end of the worship service, many hung around to fellowship. During this time 120 gallon bag Christmas treats were given out. A good many did not receive any, but they were thankful; some sharing their bags of fruit and candies.
This years Candle service was special, because there were many people who we have not seen for some time! We certainly welcomed family and friends of our Church.
We thank everyone who made this a very successful year. They did this by putting up a Moravian Star, putting up the Christmas Wreath, cutting down a real tree, installing it in the Moravian Church sanctuary, and decorating it. We are thankful for the ordering of Candles and Moravian Texts. And big thanks goes out for those that contributing dollars for the treats given to the young people of our Church family. And should not neglect thanksgiving for those that trimmed the Candles and bagged the Christmas treat bags on December 2–21, 2021.
AND WE ASK GOD’S BLESSINGS UPON EVERYONE WHO ARRIVED AND WORSHIPPED IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH TO CELEBRATE this years VERY special Christmas eve service. Our leadership trusts that even though many of us are going through difficulty, God’s mercy and kindness and peace be with you and all your family members. We pray for health for all of you! Thanks for wearing your masks and many of you were vaccinated, so we know everything will work for the good.
A very Merry Christmas Season and a Happy New Year! This is from the Elders and Trustees of the Anchorage Moravian Church. These are Elders – Nellie Kiunya, Ron Moo and Fred Nielsen Sr.. And Trustees – Milton Cross, Joel Bowles, and Robert Geerhart.
Bishop William Nicholson (Senior Pastor of the AncMC) and his wife, Barbara extends our prayers and best wishes.
