God Showed Up at the Little Red Church

Just a quick observation of what happened during our three nights of “Wake Up Church” Autumn Jubilee, October 20-22, 2023, sponsored by the Anchorage Moravian Church and United International Moravian Ministry group.

It was about choices during the Alaska Federation of Native week, and knowing that other critical and important church events were happening around Anchorage, there was a question of attendance. It was not only church worship but secular events that drew even believers and pastors to attend, which really shows us the importance of conduct and truly where our true priorities are.

We were hopeful that the younger generation would show up. This three night event did not have a packed house, but I believe that those that God wanted to bless and favor, and impart his grace, mercy and spiritual giftings upon, showed up with expectation and God showed up! As a result renewed commitments were made to our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Contributing to the expectation was three very well-known presenters of the Gospel -Evangelist Michael Tall, Pastor Glenn Hermann, author of Celestial Traveler and Pastor Ruth Jenkins. The messages presented showed a wide variety of presentation, which I believe shook up the church body with laughter, good articulate bible teaching and shouting down the presence of God with fire. As a result, I believe certainly challenged everyone (whether they realized it or not) was to wake up from slumber and become a meaningful end day influence for Christ upon those people around us.

Thanksgiving goes out, especially for AncMC Elder Nellie Kiunya who oversaw the three every day potlucks, the worship leaders – Pastor Russell Lamont, Pastor Alexie Nose, and Pastor Robert Monette, and a special word of thanksgiving for the presenters of the Gospel.

We know much of end day church is lukewarm and asleep. May we all awake to Christ and perform His will daily through the inspiration of his word and power and presence of fire – the Holy Ghost. And we all remember this scripture: Romans 13:11 “And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.”
