BISHOP WILLIAM NICHOLSON MESSAGE TO THREE NEW MORAVIAN REVIVAL PASTORS

Brief Message for Three Pastors to be Ordained in Tegucigalpa on October 18, 2026

Quyana, thank you for coming.  Quyana is our Alaska Yupik language word for thank you.  Greetings to all in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Savior.  Thanks especially for the Pastors gathered here and for the Elders of the Moravian Churches.

From the Moravian Text for today it says, from Haggai 2:9 – “In this place I will give prosperity, says the Lord of Host”.

My dear Brothers in Christ – three of you.  You are about to be ordained as Moravian Revival Ministers.  Let me say this out loud, rejoice in the Lord, for He has called and chosen you for His divine purpose! As you step into this sacred ministry, remember the words of Jeremiah 1:5—“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Your journey will have many challenges.  I encourage you to be steadfast and courageous, knowing that Philippians 1:6 declares, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

You are not alone—God’s presence goes before you, and His Spirit empowers you to preach the gospel with boldness, love, and unwavering faith.

I would like to provide some quick words of instruction.  Stay rooted in His Word, walk in humility, and serve with a heart full of compassion. The harvest is plenty, and the Lord has equipped you for this great work. May His wisdom guide you, His grace sustain you, and His power flow through you as you fulfill His calling.

We celebrate this new chapter with you and pray for abundant blessings over your ministry. Go forth and be a light to the world!

Please keep in mind that as an ordained pastor under United International Moravian Ministry group and the World Fellowship of Moravian Revival Churches your ordination is a divine calling, not just a title, and God equips you for the work ahead.

On August 21, 1977, I was ordained as a deacon into the Moravian Church by a famous Moravian Bishop of the Northern Province of the Moravian Church in America, Bishop Edwin Kortz.  On May 4, 2008 I was consecrated as a Bishop of the Alaska Moravian Province by Bishop Jacob Nelson, the first ever Eskimo Bishop.  With a second Bishop, Bishop Arthur Freeman from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, I became the 2nd Alaska Moravian bishop in the Traditional Alaska Moravian Church.

From my 49 years as an ordained and consecrated minister, I have learned, especially from the early Moravian missionaries in Alaska.  Stay humble, serve  God with love, and trust God’s promise in Philippines 1:6 – “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion”.

I heard a couple of weeks ago, that Christ cursed a fig tree because it did not have fruit on it.  The story of Jesus cursing the fig tree is recorded in the New Testament in Mark 11:12-25 and Matthew 21:18-22. I personally pray to God that there will be fruits not only in my ministry, but in yours!   We know that religious systems like the Pharisees and corrupt religion can appear outwardly devout, but lack true spiritual fruit, righteousness and mercy.  And lack intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.

My prayer as I ordain you is that God’s anointing will increase in you.  And I pray that God’s Spirit will lead you.  On our own strength, we cannot do it.  My prayer is that you will show many fruits as you fulfill your mission to evangelize and disciple your people.

Let’s pray:  Dear God thank you that you have chosen these vessels.  They have answered you call.  Bless them, strengthen them.  Help them to always be kind, compassionate, generous, and forgiving.  I know that they know that pastoring is about sacrifice and service, not position or recognition, and that humility should always lead their ministries. And we know that the warfare they face is proof of their calling and that a fresh wind and power will uplift them when they are weary.  For your glory Oh God.  In Christ name.

Note:  Shown above is a paper bulletin I put together in Spanish and used for the gathering.  It still has my writing on it.
