Praise God that He is working through the Muncipality of Anchorage, through housing organizations, Red Cross, and several Churches in Anchorage for helping displaced people from Western Alaska. We thank Elder Adrienne Reed of Church of God and Saints of Christ for coordinating assistance with various church leaders including Moravian leadership. Personally I am looking at participation with Elder Reed in a special meeting with various principles — hopefully by Thursday of this week to do more with other churches and organizations on a cooperative effort to help the Evacuees.
Importantly 1st Moravian Church of Anchorage has services going on Sundays at 6:30 pm at 1145 C Street (1st Evangelical Covenant Church of Anchorage). Call Pastor Oscar Evon at (907) 444-7343 for information.
The Anchorage Moravian Church (AncMC) continues with one hour worship on Sunday which is traditional Moravian from 11 am – 12 noon. Two hour Singspiration on Sunday night, 6 pm and Friday Night Ministry, 6 pm. Wednesday Night Bible Study, 6 pm. Location of AncMC is 3512 Robin Street. Contact is Bishop William Nicholson at (907 240-8102.
As many of you already know AncMC has loads of clothing, shoes, and some food. There are folks that may offer rides to Church. Bishop Nicholson is usually at the Church every day from 10 am – 5 pm. Folks please stop bringing clothing, unless you have some like new. We have too much already! Thank you for your donations, but the Native people also need Native food prepared for them. I was told by an Eskimo family staying at Windgate Hotel down at Ship Creek, they are yearning for dried fish and salmon. In providing sustainance, for the last two Sundays the Anchorage Moravian Church has had potlucks at 3512 Robin Street with Acoutak and Fish and Moose, etc., but usually only the last Sunday of the month, 4 pm,
A good number of the Evacuees are in process of moving to hotels, apartments, etc. and some are being relocated to other cities. It sounds like Kiska, Soldotna, Kenai, and Fairbanks are a number of communities. I know that meeting Spiritual needs are critical for our displaced brothers and sisters, and relatives.
When it comes to Church, I would recommend that folks go where the Holy Spirit wants them for spiritual help, but please note that outside of Anchorage, Bishop William NIcholson recognizes the Nazarene Churches would be a comfortable fit for traditional Moravians, but again go where the Holy Spirit directs you.
Blessing and continued prayers.
Note: This article was posted on social media sites a week or so ago. On Sunday, November 2, 2025, 3 pm, thanksgiving goes out to Kingdom Alliance Equipping Center and Brother Robert & Sister Eleanor Roehl who held a wonderful spiritual gathering encouraging many at 2600 East 16th Avenue for the Evacuees.
