WE ARE MORAVIAN. NO NEED FOR A PARTY SPIRIT. Please read my commentary below, stated with brokenness and humility and dated April 21, 2026.
Shown is a reminder for anyone who attends or speaks at the Anchorage Moravian Church. Some child erased it last Saturday (shown below) with permanent marker. Took a while to clean it but did it better this time, so I put it up again.
Our Moravian Churches seem to be a million miles away from the way it used to be during the early Moravian Missionary movement in Alaska. Certainly we go to Church to hear God’s voice to meet real needs among our people.
I see an emerging problem we need to be aware of. Too much of a party spirit in the church can be divisive thing. Trying to show off our gifts, whether it be speaking or singing in a wrong spirit is carnal. Dear the time of the end deception is rampant. We need to prayerfullly discern what is happening during worship in any Church. This carnall spirit can create an attitude that says “us vesrsus them” mentalities, prioritizing personal cliques in the Church, favoritism, or loyalty to specific leaders over unity in Christ and serving him in the best way possible to reach the masses around us. According to what I’ve read and I believe may be true is that a “party spirit can create sectarianism, envy, and discord, functioning as a sinful form of factionalism that hinders the gospel”.

Also, there is no need for personallity cults in any Moravian Revival Church that aligns with specific leaders (e.g. “I follow Paul” vs “I follow Apollos’ rather than focusing on Christ as rebuked in 1 Corinthians. There is no need to use “Us vs. Them” atttitudes among our peope. We do not view other believers as rivals, resuilting in cliques and tribalism within the body of Christ.
Another thing, there is no need for vain glory and envy, i.e. seeking personal recognition or promoting a specific group’s agenda, which James 3:15 describes as earthly and unspiritual.
As Moravian Revival people we do not want to hinder unity among the body of Christ. We do not desire to destroying the church’s collective witness and act as a stumbling block to others.
The way to get rid of a party spirit if it is impacting your church is to do everything we can prayerfully by adopting a servant’s heart, focusing on the unity of the Spirit, and prioritizing the gospel over personal or political agendas.
We Are Moravian! No Need for Party Spirit!!!
All praise to our Risen Lord and Savior!
